Martha Hill Duncan


MARTHA HILL DUNCAN is an award-winning composer, pianist and choral conductor. Several of her piano and vocal works appear in the Royal Conservatory of Music, Conservatory Canada, and other music education syllabi. Her songs Maple Dust, Night Lights and three songs from her Singing in the Northland collection, have won awards in various Canadian and American art song competitions. Her Star Prayers for SSA and piano was a winner in the 2005 Ruth Watson Henderson Choral Composition Competition. She has just completed Saskatchewan Songs for contralto Bonnie Cutsforth-Huber and a youth opera entitled Searching The Painted Sky with librettist Janet Windeler Ryan. Martha is a founding member of Red Leaf Pianoworks, a composers’ collective for new piano repertoire and is a piano examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music. A Texas native, she lives in Kingston, Ontario where she maintains a piano studio and conducts the women’s choir She Sings!
